In May, 1956, a young singer and his group 'The Blue Caps', formed for the occasion, recorded a song called Be Bop A Lula. Now legendary, this song must not lead us to forget the 199 other studio recordings made by GENE VINCENT.
For each song all of the details of its recording are included - date, location, producer, publisher, musicians; the references of the first American, British and French releases and of the original and cover versions are included, as well as information about the song's composers. This section with its 450 pages of documentation, is completed by a list, given for information only, of the lyrics of each song.
Another section details the different recording sessions, gives discographies for the US, the UK, France and 25 other countries, providing hundreds of references - 100 pages, but that is not all!
Also included are information on the mono and stereo recordings, the chart successes, unreleased songs, tributes to Gene, the history of CAPITAL Records, the interviews. All of which combine to make this the MOST COMPLETE DOCUMENT EVER PUBLISHED ON THE SUBJECT OF GENE VINCENT.
The cover (see picture) features 9 full-colour photographs, most never before published.
Finally, the book reproduces 300 documents, such as press clippings, advertisements, record reviews, album covers, labels, sheet music, as well as 30 photos never before published and 50 extremely rare photographs.
A4 Paperback - approx. 600 pages with photographs
